Website Defacement
A website deface is an attack on a website that changes the appearance of a website or web page.
This is usually the job of system crackers who hack into the web server and replace the hosted website with their own.
The most common mangling technique is using SQL injection to log into administrator accounts.
pseudonym usually consists of an entire page. This page usually contains the defacer alias or “Hacking Codename”.
Sometimes the Defacer website makes fun of the sysadmin for not maintaining server security.
In most cases, corruption is harmless, but sometimes it can be used as a distraction to hide more sinister activities, such as downloading malware or deleting important files from the server.
