Ransomware
Ransomware is a type of malware that threatens to publish a victim’s data or permanently blocks access to it unless a ransom is paid. While some simple ransomware can block the system in such a way that they can be easily canceled by a knowledgeable person.
More advanced malware uses a technique called cryptoviral extortion ransomware, which encrypts the victim’s files, making them inaccessible, and requires a ransom to pay for decryption.
